UEFA Nations League, KO: 17:00 Sep 7, 2024, Mikheil Meskhi Stadium

Georgia vs Czech Republic

Our prediction for this Nations League match:

Georgia and Czech Republic take on each other at Mikheil Meshki Stadium in what is expected to be one of the most interesting games of Saturday’s program. Georgia did well to make it to the EURO 2024 last 16. But star-studded Spain eventually proved to be a big catch for Willy Sagnol’s troops. Midfielder Anzor Mekvabishvili is back from suspension, while the opposition back-line should have Napoli ace Khvicha Kvaratskhelia at bay.

The Czechs, meanwhile, were performing below expectations at the 2024 European Championship. With the team failing to record a win in the group stages. Czech Republic, though, look sharp in front of goal and that is the main reason why we are going to bet on both teams to score. Despite failing to open his goal-scoring account in the new Bundesliga season. Bayer Leverkusen attacker Patrik Schick is widely expected to lead the line for the visiting team. Hoffenheim defender David Jurasek misses out with injury.

How the bookies view it: Czechs to chalk up win

Georgia go into their Nations League opener as 9/4 underdogs on PHcash while the draw is an unfancied 23/10 with the same firm.

The Czech Republic are 5/4  favourites on UniBet to triumph in Tbilisi.

Head to head: Just the second-ever meeting

As already mentioned, the duo were housed in the same group at Euro 2024 where they crossed paths for the first time ever. A repeat of June’s 1-1 draw can be backed at 11/12 on JILIMACAO

Players to watch: Mikautadze to make his mark again?

Georges Mikautadze’s three strikes at Euro 2024 saw him finish as the joint-top scorer at the tournament. One of those goals came against the Czech Republic. And a repeat here looks too big to ignore at 3/1 on jilipark.

Patrick Schick’s only goal at Euro 2204 came against Georgia. And the Czech Republic striker is 21/20 (JILI PAGCOR) to repeat the trick in Tbilisi.

Predicted line-ups

Following their brilliant showing at Euro 2024. Willy Sagnol is unlikely to make many changes to Georgia’s starting XI on Saturday evening.

As tends to be the case more often than not, West Ham duo Tomas Soucek. And Vladimir Coufal are expected to play a key role for the Czech Republic in the Georgian capital.

Georgia: Mamardashvili; Dvali, Kashia, Kverkvelia; Kakabadze, Kochorashvili, Mekvabishvili, Chakvetadze, Tsitaishvili; Kvaratskhelia, Mikautadze

Czech Republic: Stanek; Holes, Hranac, Krejci; Soucek, Coufal, Barak, Provod, Doudera; Chytil, Schick

Georgia vs Czech Republic Prediction

Having sailed the oceans of League D and C, Georgia found themselves in League B. After finishing in first place in the last edition of Nations League.

The Crusaders gave a good account of themselves, winning five and drawing just one of their six games. Also, they scored 16 goals and conceded just two goals in a group that included North Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Gibraltar.

Recently, Willy Sagnol’s men finished third in their Euro 2024 group. That is four points earned playing against opponents like Portugal, and Turkiye. Their four points was enough to book them a place in the round of 16. Where they lost 4-1 to eventual winners Spain.

Meanwhile, the Czech Republic had a Nations League to forget in 2022 as they were relegated from League A. The National Team won their first game, drew the second, then  lost each of their last four games.

Despite Ivan Hasek’s appointment as the head coach of the team. Czech Republic’s struggles in European competitions continued as they failed to record a win in the Euros. Losing two and drawing one of their three group stage fixtures.

The Czech Republic will be looking to return to winning ways this weekend, a run they enjoyed prior to the Euros.
